Rapper Blueface was detained by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in California over the weekend after authorities responded to an emergency call reporting a serious violent incident, according to TMZ.
The rapper was inside a restaurant in Santa Clarita on Sunday night when deputies arrived following the report. Several people at the location, including Blueface, were detained while officers investigated the situation.
Authorities later determined that no crime had occurred and released everyone at the scene. The incident was subsequently described as an apparent swatting attack, in which someone makes a false emergency report to trigger an armed police response.
A witness reportedly livestreamed the incident, capturing the police response involving Blueface and his partner, Nevaeh Akira.
Videos circulating on social media show deputies ordering Blueface to leave the restaurant. The rapper is seen walking backwards toward officers with his hands raised before being handcuffed while on his knees.
One deputy reportedly asked Blueface whether he was with his baby mama. Akira, who appeared to be carrying a child, was visibly concerned during the encounter.
Blueface was heard telling Akira to take his phone and return inside the restaurant before complying with the officers’ instructions.
He was not arrested and was eventually released after authorities determined that there was no crime.
The incident comes amid several recent police-related encounters involving the rapper.
Earlier this month, officers reportedly responded to Blueface’s Santa Clarita home after footage surfaced appearing to show him kicking a pregnant Akira into a swimming pool. No arrest was made in connection with that incident.
Days earlier, Blueface and fellow rapper Chrisean Rock were stopped by police in San Diego over alleged equipment violations. Blueface was also not arrested in that incident.
