Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime partner, Georgina Rodríguez, have held an intimate wedding ceremony at their £30 million mansion in Cascais, Portugal, according to details released after their marriage.
The couple reportedly exchanged vows in the living room of their home, with Vogue Magazine publishing photographs from the private ceremony.
Rodríguez said the wedding was exactly as she had imagined it and admitted that she struggled to hold back her tears during the ceremony.
A copy of their marriage certificate published by Jornal de Notícias reportedly showed that only four witnesses were present, alongside the couple’s children.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his siblings, Hugo, Elma and Katia, were reportedly not present at the ceremony and allegedly learned about the wedding shortly before it took place.
Rodríguez explained that the couple deliberately chose a small ceremony because they wanted a private moment with their children.
“When I was a little girl, I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds. And now I’m saying, ‘No. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home,’” she said.
She added that the couple already had access to luxury homes, cars and other material possessions, making an intimate family ceremony more meaningful to her.
The couple said they may hold a bigger celebration with family and friends in the future.
Ronaldo also reflected on the significance of becoming husband and wife, saying the marriage places their relationship in a different stage.
The football star, who is 41, also suggested that he could be approaching the final stage of his football career and said his future plans increasingly involve spending more time with his family.
The couple have also discussed the possibility of having another child in the future.
Following the wedding, Ronaldo and Rodríguez were seen with their children at the Saudi Pro League match between Al-Nassr and Al-Fateh at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh on Saturday night.
The private ceremony marks another major chapter in the relationship between Ronaldo and Rodríguez, who have been together for several years.
