Former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, has died.
Olajide served as Secretary to the Oyo State Government during the administration of the late former governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
The former government official died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with his family announcing his death in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.
The family described his death as the return of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin to his Creator.
“It is with gratitude to Almighty Allah for a life well lived, and with submission to His will, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, who returned to his Creator today, August 25, 2026,” the statement read.
The family prayed for strength and comfort for relatives and loved ones mourning his death.
“May Allah grant the entire family and all his loved ones the strength, patience and comfort to bear this loss,” the family added.
The Janazah prayer for the deceased has been scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00am at the MAN Centre, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
Olajide was a senior government official during the Ajimobi administration and served as Secretary to the Oyo State Government.
