Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has dropped to fifth in the latest ranking of Africa’s most valuable footballers, according to Transfermarkt data.
Osimhen is currently valued at €75 million, having previously held the top position in 2023.
The Galatasaray striker now trails Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, who leads the ranking with a market value of €90 million. Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi follow at €80 million each.
Osimhen is level with Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo, also valued at €75 million.
The drop comes despite the Nigerian striker making an impressive start to the 2026/27 season with Galatasaray. The 27-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist in his first two matches of the campaign.
Osimhen has also moved into third place on Galatasaray’s all-time list of foreign goalscorers and continues to attract interest from several clubs.
Arsenal have reportedly been among the clubs linked with the striker, while Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are also monitoring his situation.
Globally, Transfermarkt places Osimhen as the 20th most valuable forward and eighth among specialist centre-forwards.
Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland leads the centre-forward ranking with a valuation of €220 million, followed by Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé at €200 million. Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez is third at €120 million.
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez are each valued at €85 million, while Hugo Ekitike and João Pedro are valued at €80 million.
Despite his drop in the continental ranking, Osimhen remains Nigeria’s most valuable footballer and the most valuable player in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Since joining Galatasaray from Napoli, he has scored 63 goals in 76 appearances for the Turkish club.
His market value also reflects his place among Africa’s biggest transfer deals. His 2020 move from Lille to Napoli was reportedly worth about $91 million, while his permanent transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray was valued at around $87 million.
Osimhen remains one of Nigeria’s leading attacking players alongside Atlético Madrid winger Ademola Lookman, who is currently valued at €35 million.
Both players played important roles for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished third.
