Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has announced his decision to withdraw from the ongoing dispute involving members of the P-Square family following criticism over his involvement in the controversy.
VeryDarkMan had repeatedly commented on the feud involving Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, offering his assessment of the allegations made by the parties.
His comments attracted criticism from some social media users who accused him of appearing to defend Jude while questioning Peter’s account of the long-running dispute.
The criticism intensified as Peter continued to release information and evidence to support his claims, with some Nigerian and international personalities subsequently weighing in on the controversy.
Liberian actor Frank Artus was among those who publicly criticised VeryDarkMan’s involvement, urging him to stay out of the Okoye family’s affairs.
Responding to the backlash, VeryDarkMan said he had listened to the accounts presented by both Jude and Peter and did not consider any single party entirely responsible for the crisis.
He said:
“I just want to make one point about this P-Square thing, I see a lot of people saying VDM, you are sounding as if Jude did not have a fault in all of this. As if Jude is innocent and Peter is just saying all of this without trigger.”
VeryDarkMan then offered his personal assessment of responsibility for the dispute, assigning the largest share of blame to Jude.
“Well personally after listening to Jude and Peter, if you ask me who to put the blame on, I will say I will put 40 percent of the blame on Jude, and I put 30 percent of the blame on Peter, and another 30 percent on the wife, the family and everybody.”
He also addressed people who had criticised and insulted him over his position, saying differing opinions had created what he considered a more balanced public conversation around the P-Square controversy.
“And to the people insulting me, it is not a crime. You can insult people. Now there’s balance in views in the P-Square matter.”
VeryDarkMan subsequently indicated that he would step away from the family dispute and redirect his attention to his own ongoing matter with the Nigeria Police Force.
The activist said he would now focus on preparing to appear before a police panel concerning allegations he previously made against AIG Jimoh Moshood.
His decision comes amid renewed public attention surrounding the Okoye brothers, whose disagreements have prompted reactions from entertainers, commentators and other public figures.
