Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has held strategic discussions with the party’s South-West governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APM governorship candidate in Lagos State, Prince Laja Adeoye, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the meeting focused on strengthening the party’s structures and coordinating grassroots mobilisation across the region.
According to Adeoye, the meeting was attended by APM governorship candidates Bimbo Adekanmbi of Oyo, Laja Adeoye of Lagos and Rotimi Babajide of Ogun, while the party’s candidate in Osun State also participated.
He said the discussions centred on intensifying preparations and expanding the party’s presence across the South-West, with Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo identified as strategic states.
Adeoye said the APM plans to transform the states into “reliable strongholds” while also expanding its political influence beyond the South-West as part of its wider national mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Makinde emerged as the APM presidential candidate after securing the party’s ticket at its presidential primary in Ibadan. During his acceptance speech, he pledged to “restore hope and rebuild public confidence” in Nigeria.
The governor also promised to pursue practical reforms in critical areas, including the oil and gas sector, agriculture and the wider economy, as he prepares to challenge for the presidency in 2027.
