National leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, has met with the party’s candidates and stakeholders in Imo State as part of efforts to strengthen unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson disclosed this in a statement posted on his verified X account on Saturday, describing the consultative and reconciliation meeting as “very fruitful.”
The meeting was held with NDC leaders, candidates and other stakeholders in Imo State and was led by former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa.
Dickson said participants agreed to work together to secure victory for all NDC candidates across the various elective positions.
“We had a very fruitful meeting, and they all agreed to work together for the victory of all candidates of our party, from top to bottom.”
The NDC leader urged the party’s candidates and leaders to play active roles in resolving disagreements and promoting reconciliation among members.
He said the first meeting should serve as a foundation for further discussions aimed at achieving total unity and comprehensive reconciliation among all stakeholders in the state.
Dickson also commended Udenwa for his leadership and urged him to continue supporting the reconciliation process with the backing of the party’s national leadership.
“We also urged all candidates and party leaders to be instruments of reconciliation.”
He added that the NDC would soon deploy a team of senior party officials to Imo State to join the ongoing reconciliation efforts.
Dickson said the intervention was aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and ensuring that disagreements among candidates and stakeholders do not undermine its electoral ambitions in the state.
“I thank Chief Udenwa for the leadership he is providing as State Leader in Imo and urge him to do more with the support of the National Leadership of the party.”
The meeting forms part of the NDC’s efforts to consolidate its structures in Imo State and present a united front as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
