Nollywood Actress Temitope Osoba Dies After Battle With Breast Cancer

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, whose passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans.

Her death was announced by fellow actor Alesh Ola Sanni, who paid an emotional tribute to the late actress in a post shared on Instagram.

Expressing his grief, Sanni said he had been unable to sleep since learning of her passing and reflected on the memories they shared together.

“Couldn’t sleep since last night. It’s well, rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together. Till we meet again.”

Career in Nollywood

Born on December 2, 1985, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Temitope Osoba studied Business Education at Olabisi Onabanjo University before pursuing a career in acting.

She made her acting debut in 2005 in the movie Ijoya, produced by actress Laide Bakare.

Her breakthrough came in 2009 after starring in Ogun Mi, a film produced by Dayo Amusa, which brought her wider recognition in the Yoruba movie industry.

Battle with breast cancer

In 2023, Osoba revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a lump during a self-examination.

According to the actress, the lump was initially dismissed by a doctor because of her childbearing age. However, after it continued to grow, further medical examinations confirmed it was cancerous.

She subsequently underwent surgery and received radiation therapy.

Following her treatment, Osoba openly shared her experience, using her platform to encourage women to prioritise early detection and raise awareness about breast cancer.

Her death has left colleagues, fans and members of the entertainment industry mourning the loss of an actress remembered for her talent, resilience and advocacy for breast cancer awareness.
