The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, ending weeks of anticipation for nearly two million students across Nigeria.
The examination body announced the release on Wednesday through its official X account, confirming that candidates can now access their results via the official WAEC result-checking portal.
In a brief statement, WAEC said:
“UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at waec.org and check your results now on waecdirect.org.”
How to check your 2026 WAEC result
According to WAEC, candidates are required to generate a result-checking PIN and serial number before accessing their results online.
To complete the process, candidates will need to provide:
- Their WAEC examination number.
- The National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration.
- The generated PIN and serial number.
- Other required verification details on the official result portal.
Nearly two million candidates participated
The 2026 WASSCE for school candidates was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with approximately 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participating across the country.
The examination featured both the traditional paper-based format and the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) option, with increased adoption of the digital examination system compared to previous years.
WAEC had earlier indicated that the results would be released about 45 days after the conclusion of the final examination.
The release has sparked excitement among candidates, parents and schools, with thousands already accessing the official portal to check their results and begin preparations for admission into higher institutions.
