Odogwu of Asaba’s Wife Denies Rape Allegation, Says Husband Had Affair With Favour Agbro

The wife of Delta State content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, has defended her husband against allegations that he raped 20-year-old Favour Agbro, saying the two only had an affair.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, spoke in a video shared on her husband’s social media page on Wednesday, saying she had followed developments surrounding the case before deciding to speak publicly.

She maintained that she would continue to support her husband despite the allegations and Favour’s subsequent death.

“Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl.”

She further insisted that her husband was incapable of rape, saying his lack of fame in the past did not change her position.

“He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?”

The development comes weeks after the Delta State Police Command arrested Ogbonna, 40, over allegations surrounding Favour’s death.

According to the police, Favour travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna allegedly invited her under the guise of teaching her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook pages through content creation.

The police alleged that Ogbonna subsequently took Favour to a hotel, where he allegedly raped and physically assaulted her. Favour later returned home distressed and reportedly told her parents about the incident before recording a video detailing her alleged experience.

She subsequently ingested a toxic substance and died while receiving treatment, according to the police. Investigators said the arrest followed a petition submitted by Favour’s family.

Ogbonna’s wife said she had deliberately avoided speaking prematurely because of the circumstances surrounding Favour’s death.

“I am trying to follow the matter the right way; I have not been silent. I want to let you people know that no matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100%. I’m not going to turn my back on him.”

She also cautioned Nigerians against treating claims circulating on social media as established facts, arguing that the case should be determined through the appropriate legal process.

“How I feel, what I feel, how I see it is my personal decision. Everything is not actually the way they presented it. Before I could come out to talk, I have learnt a lot about this matter. Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind.”

The woman acknowledged that Favour had died, saying the development was one of the reasons she had approached the matter cautiously.

“Yes, someone has died and that is why we are taking it easy. But Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody.”

She added that her husband would have an opportunity to give his own account of events when the time comes.

The woman also disclosed that she had been married to Ogbonna for eight years and that they have four childrentogether.

The police had earlier said that Favour’s family petitioned the command over the allegations, leading to an investigation and Ogbonna’s arrest. The command later said the content creator would be charged to court.

Ogbonna has previously been reported to have pleaded for forgiveness from Favour’s family following his arrest, although the circumstances surrounding the case remain under investigation.

The latest comments from Ogbonna’s wife represent a denial of the rape allegation and her account of the relationship between her husband and Favour. They do not establish what occurred between the two.

Ogbonna has not been convicted of any offence, and the rape allegation remains subject to investigation and determination by the appropriate authorities and courts.
