Relationship coach and pastor Kingsley Okonkwo has launched Mentor To Marry, a Christian matchmaking and marriage-preparation platform designed to help singles seeking intentional, faith-based relationships.
Okonkwo, the lead pastor of David’s Christian Centre, announced the platform in a series of posts on X on Wednesday, describing it as a service for serious Christian singles seeking potential partners.
The platform describes itself as a guided marriage-preparation and matching community for Christians who want to build relationships with marriage as the goal.
Okonkwo said the platform was created partly in response to what he described as the increasing commercialisation of relationships, which he believes has made it more difficult for some young men to find genuine partners.
“I feel for the men of this generation….relationships have been so commercialized nowadays that its almost impossible for a young man to find true love.”
In another post, the pastor compared dating experiences in his generation with what he described as the financial expectations some men face in relationships today.
“When we were young, all you had to get was a girls phone number but now all they want to send is their account number, now you are expected to pay rent, school fees and transport before you are taken seriously.”
Okonkwo later encouraged men interested in meeting what he described as “godly well mentored ladies from all over the world” to join the platform.
He, however, clarified that he was not suggesting that women generally approach relationships for financial reasons.
“I can assure you that not all women are in relationship for business, there are a lot of good women looking to connect with serious godly men on our platform.”
According to the official Mentor To Marry website, the platform places mentoring before matchmaking, requiring members to go through a preparation process before accessing its matching services.
The programme begins with eight weeks of mentoring classes, alongside assessments, surveys and guided reflection designed to help members develop greater clarity about their readiness for marriage.
The platform says members can subsequently receive recommendations and introductions based on their membership level and readiness.
Its membership is divided into Regular, Premium and VIP plans.
The Regular plan costs N70,000 annually and includes eight weeks of mentoring classes, assessments and surveys, limited profile browsing, an accountability system, five weekly chats and access to a country-based matching pool.
The Premium plan costs N350,000 per year and includes the Regular package, as well as unlimited profile browsing, monthly profile recommendations, priority access to coaches, access to global profiles, 10 weekly chats and private groups.
The VIP plan costs N700,000 annually and offers additional services, including a dedicated matchmaker and coach, priority access to the platform’s founders, 15 weekly chats, off-platform introductions, profile protection and access to global profiles.
The platform makes clear that membership does not guarantee a match, mutual interest or marriage.
Mentor To Marry also says it is operated by Love, Dating and Marriage Ministries, a non-profit organisation registered in Nigeria, and is intended for Christians aged 25 and above.
Members are expected to identify as Christians and agree to the platform’s principles on relationships and marriage. The platform also requires participants in its matching services to be unmarried, divorced or widowed and to provide truthful information about their identity and marital status.
Its matching process is built around Christian values, accountability, relationship education and marriage preparation, rather than casual dating.
The platform also has rules prohibiting sexual harassment, exploitation, abuse, fraud, catfishing, sexually explicit content and financial exploitation.
Kingsley Okonkwo and his wife, Mildred Okonkwo, are listed among the founders. The platform says they bring pastoral care, relationship education and marriage mentoring experience to the service.
The platform’s stated philosophy is that the objective is not simply to help singles meet someone, but to help them prepare for the kind of marriage they hope to build.
For people who are interested in marriage but are not ready to enrol in a paid plan, Mentor To Marry also provides a free singles community where members can access teachings, resources, events and information about the platform.
