Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck clashed with police officers shortly after performing at a Lagos nightclub in the early hours of Saturday, August 29, 2026, as officers reportedly attempted to take him into custody.
A video of the confrontation has gone viral on social media, showing the rapper questioning the officers’ authority to arrest him and insisting that his lawyers had already responded to a police invitation.
One of the officers reportedly told Odumodublvck that he had been invited by the police but failed to honour the invitation.
The rapper, however, maintained that his legal representatives had already attended to the matter.
“You do not have any jurisdiction. My lawyers attended to it. They came to your office.”
The exchange became more heated when an officer asked whether the rapper was resisting arrest.
Odumodublvck denied resisting arrest and claimed that a motion ex parte had been issued by a court preventing the police from taking him away.
“I am not resisting an arrest. There is a motion ex parte that says you cannot arrest me. Why should I follow you? It is illegal.”
The officer reportedly responded that the police had not received the alleged ex parte motion, suggesting that the document cited by the rapper had not been communicated to them.
Odumodublvck continued to insist that he had legal protection against the proposed arrest and questioned why he should leave the venue with the officers.
“It is illegal to take me from here, my brother. It is illegal to take me.”
The rapper also appeared to challenge the officers over their attempt to restrict what he could say publicly about the incident.
“You are telling me not to tweet, not to speak. As in what? I am what?”
The exact reason for the attempted arrest has not been publicly disclosed.
The confrontation comes amid previous reports of a dispute involving Odumodublvck and Chocolate City, with the rapper previously alleging that the record label had used police petitions in attempts to have him arrested. Chocolate City had not publicly responded to those latest allegations at the time of earlier reports.
The latest incident also comes after the rapper previously raised concerns about police invitations and alleged attempts to arrest him in connection with disputes involving the label.
For now, Odumodublvck’s claim that a court order prevents his arrest has not been independently verified, and the police have not publicly explained the legal basis or specific reason for the attempted arrest.
The video has since generated reactions online, with attention focused on the rapper’s confrontation with the officers and his repeated insistence that his lawyers had already addressed the matter.
