Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has spoken candidly about his difficulty quitting smoking, admitting that despite previous attempts, he has struggled to give up the habit.
The singer made the disclosure during a recent conversation, where he acknowledged that he enjoys smoking but has made efforts to stop.
Omah Lay said he had previously tried to force himself to quit, describing the experience as a personal battle.
According to him, he has now chosen to be less hard on himself, pointing out that life is short and that everyone will eventually die.
The Omah Lay smoking revelation also touched on the use of cannabis in Nigeria, where recreational marijuana remains illegal. The singer said the restrictions surrounding weed can make some young people feel as though they are being treated like criminals.
He further described the pleasure he derives from smoking as “artificial happiness,” while acknowledging that he wants to live his life and pursue the things that give him a sense of peace.
Omah Lay’s comments have drawn attention because of his candid discussion of a habit he says he has repeatedly tried to overcome.
