“This Fight Don Tey” — Gabriel Afolayan Shares What He Knows About P-Square’s Long-Running Rift

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Gabriel Afolayan has weighed in on the ongoing dispute involving former P-Square members Peter and Paul Okoye, revealing that disagreements between the twin brothers date back more than two decades.

In a post shared on X, Afolayan recalled his experience around the music duo in 2005, during the period surrounding their Get Squared album.

According to the actor, disagreements between Peter and Paul frequently centred on the selection of songs for their albums, particularly over whose compositions would receive more slots on the final tracklist.

Afolayan said their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, regularly played the role of deciding which songs would eventually make their projects.

“The Psquare story that I know dated back to 2005 Get Squared era at EKO Reelmix studio. They’ve always had issues with songs selection for any album they intend to release.”

He added that disagreements would arise over how many songs from each brother should be selected, with Jude often stepping in to make the final decision.

“Argument on whose songs should be picked more and Jude has always been a decider of that. This fight don tey no be today. All through their prime era.”

Afolayan’s account suggests that tensions between the brothers were present even during some of the most successful years of P-Square’s career, long before their disagreements became public.

His comments come amid renewed exchanges involving Peter, Paul and Jude Okoye, which have generated reactions from entertainers and fans across social media.

P-Square was formed by Peter and Paul after the identical twins began singing and dancing together during their school years in Jos, Plateau State.

The duo rose to national prominence in the early 2000s before becoming one of Africa’s biggest music acts, releasing several commercially successful albums and hit songs.

However, disagreements involving the brothers and their management eventually resulted in P-Square’s highly publicised split in 2017.

Peter and Paul reconciled in 2021, delighting fans who had repeatedly called for their reunion, but another breakdown in their relationship became public in 2024, with both returning their attention to their respective solo careers.

Afolayan’s latest revelation has added another perspective to the controversy, suggesting that the disagreements currently playing out publicly may have roots stretching back to P-Square’s early years.
