President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to rescue victims abducted during the attack on a mosque in Niger State.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu expressed outrage over the abduction and killing of innocent residents by criminal elements in the state, describing the attackers as enemies of peace and humanity.
“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free,” the President said.
He also expressed condolences to the families of those killed during the attack and assured them that the Federal Government would continue efforts to secure the safe return of those abducted.
“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish. We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you,” Tinubu said.
The President further directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the rescue operation until all the abducted victims are accounted for.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to confront terrorism and other forms of violent crime, stressing that terror would not intimidate Nigeria.
He said the government must continue to defend citizens, protect communities and uphold the sanctity of human life.
