Nigerian comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate Deeone has weighed in on the renewed controversy surrounding P-Square, questioning Peter Okoye’s account of his long-running dispute with his brothers.
Peter, popularly known as Mr P, has been sharing a series of videos detailing his version of events surrounding the disagreements involving his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
Reacting to the videos, Deeone said his major concern was that Peter appeared not to have acknowledged any personal wrongdoing throughout the eight-part account.
According to the comedian, disagreements involving family members rarely leave one person entirely without blame, making him question whether the public has been given the complete picture.
“My only issue with Mr P is that in all your story from Part 1 to Part 8, you have not done anything wrong. That is my only clause.”
Deeone argued that no human being is perfect and jokingly referenced the biblical account of Jesus driving people from the temple and cursing a fig tree while making his point.
He continued:
“So, how come from Part 1 to Part 8, you have not recorded your wrongdoing? You have not admitted that you did something. Is it possible?”
The comedian said his own experiences with disagreements among siblings had taught him that responsibility for family conflicts can involve different parties.
“My siblings and I fight, I do wrong, and they also do some wrongs. How come in your story, from Part 1 to 8, you did not do anything wrong? This story is one-sided.”
Deeone maintained that he was unwilling to accept Peter’s account without questioning whether there were other aspects of the dispute yet to be publicly addressed.
“I do not accept very good stories or fairytales. When something is too good to be true, trust me, it is too good to be true.”
He added that nobody is perfect and suggested that anyone presenting themselves as being completely without fault should expect their account to face scrutiny.
His intervention comes as the latest P-Square dispute continues to attract reactions from Nigerian entertainers and other public figures.
The renewed controversy has brought years of disagreements involving Peter, Paul and Jude Okoye back into public discussion, with different personalities offering their views on what may have contributed to the breakdown of their personal and professional relationships.
Deeone, however, did not establish that Peter’s claims were false. His comments focused on what he considered a lack of acknowledgement of Peter’s own possible mistakes in the dispute.
