Madagascar’s national football team have arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their opening fixture against Nigeria in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The 28-member Malagasy delegation touched down at the Victor Attah International Airport at about 2:05 p.m. on Monday and completed the necessary immigration procedures before heading to their hotel.
Additional members of the Madagascar delegation are expected to join the squad on Tuesday, September 22, as preparations continue for the crucial qualifying encounter.
Madagascar will take on Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their Matchday 1 fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 25.
The match will mark the beginning of both teams’ campaigns in the race for qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Following their meeting with Nigeria, Corentin Martins’ Madagascar side will continue their qualifying campaign four days later.
The Malagasy team are scheduled to host Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their Matchday 2 encounter on Monday, September 29.
The Super Eagles will be looking to make a strong start to their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign when they welcome Madagascar to Uyo.
