Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, is set to represent Nigeria at the Miss World 2026 grand finale in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on Saturday.
The 26-year-old beauty queen has unveiled two outfits inspired by her Nigerian heritage as she prepares for the international competition, including an evening gown featuring the country’s national colours and a costume celebrating her Niger Delta roots.
Karibi-George shared images of her final evening gown on Instagram, describing the green, white and green design as a representation of the country she is carrying with her to the global stage.
“Green, white and green, tonight, I wear home,” she said.
The Bayelsa-born representative explained that the gown was created to allow Nigeria’s identity to be communicated through its design, with each element reflecting the national flag and the country’s influence on her journey.
“As I take this final walk, I do so with immense pride, knowing that wherever I go, Nigeria goes with me.”
Her national costume, meanwhile, draws inspiration from the “Amazon of Mangrove”, paying tribute to the strength of women, the natural wealth of the Niger Delta and the connection between the region’s people and their environment.
Karibi-George described the costume as a representation of her roots and the resilience of the people who shaped her upbringing.
“It’s a story with deep roots in the home. It signifies my people’s perseverance as well as a piece of the area that shaped me.”
The Nigerian contestant secured a place in the Miss World Top 40 after winning the Top Model for Africa title on August 28. She emerged ahead of contestants representing Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa.
Her performance has also attracted support from the Nigerian government. On Friday, Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa praised Karibi-George’s performance and called for continued government support for her participation.
Karibi-George was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 on June 6 at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, after defeating 19 other contestants. She succeeded Joy Mojisola Raimi.
The Miss World 2026 finale will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. Vietnam time, with 111 contestants expected to compete for the crown.
Thailand’s outgoing Miss World, Opal Suchata Chuangsri, will make her final walk before handing the crown to her successor.
The ceremony will be hosted by Stephanie del Valle, the 66th Miss World, and reigning Mr World Danny Mejía.
The event will be broadcast live across Africa by Canal+ and MultiChoice, while viewers in territories without television coverage can watch through the official Miss World platform.
