The Oyo State Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up to investigate the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area is expected to submit its report to Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.
According to Oyelade, Governor Makinde will formally receive the commission’s report at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The event is scheduled to begin at 12 noon and is expected to be attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, religious leaders, labour representatives and other stakeholders.
Representatives of the affected schools and communities are also expected at the report presentation.
They include the Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, Mrs Racheal Alamu, Headmaster of Baptist Basic School, Yawota, Mr Adejumo Gabriel, and Headteacher of Local Authority Basic School, Ahoro-Esinele, Mr Oke Jacob Sunday.
Governor Makinde inaugurated the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on July 31, 2026, with a mandate to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction and establish what happened during the incident.
The commission was established following the May 15 attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area.
The affected schools were Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.
The attack resulted in the abduction of 39 pupils and seven teachers, including Mrs Alamu.
The victims were held by their abductors for 56 days inside the Old Oyo National Park before they regained their freedom on July 10, 2026.
The incident, however, resulted in the deaths of two teachers, Michael Oyedokun and Adesiyan Adegboye.
The commission’s report is expected to provide the state government with its findings on the circumstances surrounding the attack and abduction.
The Oyo State Government is expected to formally receive the report during Tuesday’s ceremony in Ibadan.
