A 46-year-old woman allegedly engaged in a lewd act aboard an American Airlines flight from Baltimore to Miami, leaving fellow passengers shocked during the journey.
According to an incident report filed by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Katy Inzer allegedly removed her trousers and began masturbating shortly after the flight took off on September 11.
A passenger reportedly alerted a flight attendant after witnessing the incident. The complaint stated that Inzer was making inappropriate sounds while engaging in the act.
The flight attendant confronted Inzer, after which she stopped, put her trousers back on and went to sleep for the rest of the flight, according to the police report.
Authorities later encountered Inzer after the aircraft arrived in Miami. Officers reportedly observed that she had a strong smell of alcohol and bloodshot eyes.
The report also stated that Inzer claimed she could not remember the alleged incident, saying that she had fallen asleep.
The case was initially reported by The Smoking Gun and was subsequently referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) because authorities were uncertain about which law enforcement agency had jurisdiction over the alleged misconduct.
The incident comes amid continuing concerns over disruptive and unlawful behaviour aboard commercial aircraft in the United States.
The US Department of Transportation advises passengers who witness sexual misconduct on an aircraft to promptly notify members of the flight crew or law enforcement officers at the destination.
The FBI previously disclosed that it investigated 104 reports involving sexual assault and misconduct aboard commercial aircraft in 2024.
