The family of a woman identified as Esther Jonathan has appealed to security agencies for help after she reportedly went missing in Abuja, amid claims that suspected kidnappers have demanded a ₦5 million ransom.
According to Kaduna-based activist Atyotiyap, Jonathan was last seen on Monday, October 12, 2026, after reportedly boarding a vehicle at Jikoyi, in the Karu area of Abuja, while travelling to work.
Her brother, who raised the alarm over her disappearance, reportedly said the family was later contacted by individuals claiming to have abducted her and demanding ₦5 million for her release.
The family is said to have obtained a recording of a telephone conversation involving Jonathan’s sister and the individuals allegedly making the ransom demand.
Following the development, the family reportedly lodged a complaint with the police and called for an investigation into her disappearance.
Jonathan’s brother also said efforts were being made to visit her residence to establish contact and gather further information that could help clarify the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
The family has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to investigate the report, identify those allegedly involved and work towards securing her safe return.
Members of the public who may have information about Jonathan’s whereabouts have also been urged to assist the family and the authorities.

As of the time of the report, there was no further information on her whereabouts or any arrests in connection with the alleged kidnapping. The reported abduction and ransom demand have not been independently verified.
