Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings has been reported dead, prompting emotional reactions from members of the gospel music community, although the circumstances surrounding the reported death remain unclear.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA), raised the alarm on Wednesday in a post on Instagram, expressing concern over what he described as the growing loss of young Nigerians.
Sharing a photograph of the singer, Olajengbesi appealed for divine intervention and expressed grief over the development.
“My God! What a life! No, Lord! We plead for Your mercy upon Toluwanisings,” he wrote.
He added, “I am deeply troubled by the deaths of young men and women. This is not God’s plan for us.”
Olajengbesi also called for an end to what he described as untimely deaths, writing, “We say no to untimely death.”
The reports have also drawn reactions from comedian and gospel minister Woli Agba, who urged people not to give up hope.
In a message shared on his social media page, Woli Agba appealed for continued prayers, suggesting that those following the development should not yet reach a final conclusion.
“Please hold on. Please don’t conclude. We are trusting God. Please,” he wrote.
Gospel singer Boyebest also responded to the message, expressing faith that a positive outcome was still possible.
“Yes yes yes. Yeah I have faith in God. I do. God you’ll do this one,” Boyebest wrote in the comments section.
The reactions emerged hours after reports about Toluwanisings began circulating on social media, with some members of the gospel music community expressing distress and hoping for a miracle.
However, details about what happened to the singer, including the circumstances surrounding the reports, had not been disclosed in the account available at the time of reporting. An independent confirmation of his death was also not provided in the supplied report.
Further confirmation from his family, management or an official representative would help clarify the situation.
