Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has sparked reactions online after declaring that men should be willing to die for the women they love, citing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as a model for husbands.
The rapper shared his views on love, marriage and his Christian faith during a recent appearance on the In Motion Podcast, where he also explained how he wants his girlfriend and their future family to be provided for after his death.
Referencing the biblical instruction for husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the Church, Odumodublvck argued that a man’s commitment to his partner should extend beyond words.
“Any man wey talk say him nor fit die for him woman na big fool. I’m a Christian. Christ said we should love our wife like Christ love the church, and what did Christ do for the church? Died for the church,” he said.
The rapper, who displayed the cross pendant around his neck during the interview, said he hoped to die before his girlfriend because she was younger than him.
He explained that he wanted her to inherit and manage the assets he leaves behind, ensuring that she could provide for their children.
Odumodublvck also reflected on his upbringing, recalling his mother’s generosity and willingness to give to others. He used her example to explain why he believes women should be valued within the family.
Drawing an analogy from chess, the rapper described a woman as the “Queen” in a family, emphasising the importance he attaches to a partner’s position and contribution to the home.
The comments also provided an opportunity for him to respond to perceptions about his views on women.
Odumodublvck said he was troubled by claims that he was a misogynist, arguing that his willingness to make sacrifices for his girlfriend contradicted that description.
“The biggest misconception people have about me, they think I’m misogynist. It bothers me a lot because it’s such an unfair thing to say. Like now, I want to die for my girlfriend. What are you guys saying? Will a misogynist die for his woman?” he added.
His remarks have generated reactions on social media, with some users praising his expressions of commitment and describing him as a “lover boy”.
The discussion has also drawn attention to his views on Christian love, family responsibility and making provisions for a partner and children beyond one’s lifetime.
