The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Governor Seyi Makinde to explain the steps his administration is taking to secure the release of three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) who were reportedly kidnapped within the institute’s premises.
The party also demanded details of measures being implemented to prevent further abductions amid concerns over insecurity in the state.
The three CRIN workers were reportedly abducted last Friday at the institute in Oyo State. Their identities and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not provided in the report.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, the Oyo APC questioned the state government’s response to the latest incident and urged the governor to address concerns over the safety of residents and workers.
Sadare said the public deserved information about the circumstances surrounding the abduction, the efforts being made to rescue the victims and the measures planned to prevent similar incidents.
“Also, the public wanted to know the circumstances surrounding the fresh abduction of the three staff of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) and efforts being put in place to rescue them, as well as ensuring that surging insecurity is permanently addressed in the state,” he said.
The party called for clear communication from the state government on the rescue operation and its broader security response.
However, the statement, as provided, did not include details of any response from Governor Makinde or his administration concerning the latest abduction.
Further information about the identities of the victims, the suspected kidnappers and the progress of efforts to secure their release was not available in the report.
