The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev Ezekiel Dachomo, has arrived in Israel as part of an international advocacy campaign over killings and insecurity in Plateau and other parts of Nigeria.
Dachomo arrived in Israel on Friday, October 2, 2026, according to reports on his visit. He is expected to seek an audience with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and raise concerns about attacks affecting communities in Plateau State and the wider Middle Belt.
The cleric has been outspoken in describing the violence affecting Christian communities in Plateau as persecution and what he calls a genocide. Those characterisations are part of Dachomo’s advocacy and should not be treated as an independently established description of the entire conflict.
He said the Israeli trip was his first international Christian advocacy tour and that he wanted to use the opportunity to draw the attention of international leaders and Christian groups to insecurity in Nigeria.
Dachomo said he would also meet prayer warriors and Christian leaders from different countries during the visit to discuss the security situation and pray for Nigeria.
“By the mercy of God, I will be addressing the world in Israel,” Dachomo said.
The cleric also said he intended to raise the killings affecting both Christians and Muslims in Nigeria, mentioning communities in Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Katsina.
He further said he hoped to meet Netanyahu personally to explain what he described as the suffering of Christians in Nigeria.
“I want to thank Benjamin Netanyahu. By God’s grace, if we meet one-on-one in Israel, I will share with him the agony of Christians in Nigeria.”
Dachomo’s trip follows comments he made in September after Netanyahu’s address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly, when he thanked the Israeli prime minister and US President Donald Trump for drawing international attention to religious violence and persecution in Nigeria.
He has also criticised the Nigerian government over what he considers inadequate attention to attacks on Christian communities.
In his latest remarks, Dachomo questioned the government’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and argued that the Nigerian authorities should show similar concern about insecurity affecting communities within Nigeria.
He also called for prayers for victims of violence across the country, including Muslims, Christians and members of other communities.
“We ask God to show mercy upon all of us, including the Fulani terrorists. We love them,” he said.
Dachomo has previously attracted national attention for his advocacy over violence in Plateau State. In November 2025, Presidential aide Abiodun Essiet met with him during a peacebuilding engagement in Plateau, where the government said discussions focused on how faith-based leadership could contribute to peace, unity and social development.
His latest visit to Israel is therefore part of a broader campaign in which the Plateau cleric has sought greater international attention to killings and insecurity in Nigeria.
