Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has sparked widespread debate on social media after sharing a controversial post about Satan and Christianity.
In the post, the retired footballer questioned why billions of Christians across the world have continued to battle one Satan for thousands of years.
He wrote:
“More than 1 million Churches, 4 billion members, 200 religions, fighting 1 Satan for more than 6000 years. Satan please die na.”
The post quickly went viral, attracting thousands of reactions from social media users, with many offering different religious interpretations and opinions.
Reacting to the post, Lanrey argued that the issue lies in Satan’s influence over humanity rather than Satan himself.
He wrote:
“Why are human beings full of wickedness? Why are human beings doing evil? Who is Satan? What does he represent and stand for?
Literally, I want to believe that it’s the activities of Satan in human’s life that is meant to die, not Satan himself. Because the Bible stated it clearly in Revelation 20:1–3…”
Lanrey then cited Revelation 20:1–3, where the devil is bound for a thousand years before being released for a short time.

Sharing a different perspective, Kerrently wrote:
“I know that some of you won’t be comfortable with this but I still have to say it. Satan is not the problem, God is.
