The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that travelers in the United States who require visas to enter Nigeria must now submit their applications directly to Nigerian diplomatic missions following the immediate termination of its partnership with a third-party service provider.
The new directive follows the disengagement of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), which previously managed Nigeria’s main visa application and submission centres across the United States.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer of the NIS, Deputy Controller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi.
According to the statement, visa applicants are now required to process and submit their applications at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the country’s consulates in New York and Atlanta until further notice.
Although the Nigeria Immigration Service confirmed that the partnership with OIS Services has ended with immediate effect, it did not disclose the reasons behind the decision.
The agency assured applicants that the Nigerian Embassy in Washington and the consulates in New York and Atlanta have made adequate arrangements to handle visa applications, processing and issuance without disrupting services.
To ensure a smooth transition, the NIS advised prospective travelers to regularly check the official communication platforms of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigerian Mission in the United States for updates on application procedures, submission requirements and processing timelines.
The immigration agency reaffirmed its commitment to delivering efficient and reliable visa services throughout the transition period while working to ensure that applicants continue to receive timely assistance.
