Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party have endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, saying continuity is needed to complete major infrastructure projects across the country.
The endorsement was disclosed by the spokesperson for the Adeleke Re-election Campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, following a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
According to Olajengbesi, the meeting centred on internal party matters and preparations for upcoming political activities in Osun State.
He said the party’s leadership agreed that the Tinubu administration should be given the opportunity to complete ongoing national infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, which they cited as key reasons for backing the President ahead of the 2027 general election.
Olajengbesi also stated that discussions during the meeting extended to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, with party leaders calling for a peaceful electoral process.
According to him, the leaders cautioned against violence, voter intimidation, electoral malpractice and the alleged misuse of security agencies against Accord Party members during the election period.
In a related development, non-indigenous residents from several southern states, as well as Benue and Plateau states living in Osun, also declared support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
The residents said they remain committed to peaceful coexistence and the continued development of Osun State, adding to the political support the governor has received ahead of future elections.
