Galatasaray Star Renato Nhaga Hails Victor Osimhen As Inspiration To African Footballers

Galatasaray midfielder Renato Nhaga has paid glowing tribute to Victor Osimhen, describing the Nigerian striker as a role model whose journey continues to inspire African footballers.

The Guinea-Bissau international said Osimhen has played a key role in helping him settle into life at the Turkish champions since his arrival earlier this year.

Speaking in an interview with Le Marca Sports, Nhaga praised the Super Eagles forward for remaining humble despite his rise to the top of world football.

“Osimhen is a very important figure for both me and all African players. He’s someone who came from nothing and made it all the way here. He’s a huge role model,” Nhaga said.

The young midfielder also revealed that Osimhen was among the first players to welcome him to Galatasaray and has continued to support him both on and off the pitch.

“He’s been supporting me from day one. He welcomed me very warmly. He always looks out for and protects me.”

According to Nhaga, the Nigerian international frequently shares personal experiences from his football journey, offering advice that has helped him develop as a player.

“By sharing examples from his own life, he helps me in my development.”

Osimhen completed a permanent move to Galatasaray after a successful loan spell and has since become one of the club’s most influential players.

The 27-year-old striker has scored 59 goals and provided 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s domestic success.

Nhaga, who joined the Turkish giants during the 2026 winter transfer window, is regarded as one of the club’s promising young midfielders and believes Osimhen’s mentorship has been invaluable as he continues to adapt to life in Turkey.

Osimhen’s impact at Galatasaray has extended beyond his performances on the pitch, with teammates increasingly recognising his leadership and willingness to guide younger players within the squad.
