“You Don’t Speak for Us!” — Pro-Atiku Group EXPULSES Atiku’s Son After Shock APC Defection

The political drama surrounding Atiku Abubakar has taken a fresh twist as a pro-Atiku political group has formally expelled his son, Abba Abubakar, following his controversial defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku Haske Organisation Drops the Hammer

The decision was announced on Sunday by Mai Bakari, convener of the Atiku Haske Organisation, in a strongly worded statement that leaves no room for ambiguity.

This comes just days after Abba Abubakar publicly defected to the APC, where he not only pledged support for President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda but also directed coordinators and members of his political structure to follow him into the ruling party.

That move, however, did not go down well.

Bakari dismissed Abba’s directive outright, insisting that the former vice president’s son has no locus standi to decide the political direction of the group.

According to him:

  • Abba is not the founder of the Atiku Haske Organisation
  • He has never funded the group’s activities
  • He does not hold the registration documents of the organisation

“We founded the Atiku Haske Organisation and merely invited Abba to join. He has neither contributed a naira nor possesses the certificate of registration of the group,” Bakari said.

He added that Abba is actually subject to the organisation’s rules, not the other way around — and by defecting, he had fallen short of expectations.

Expelled — And ADC Is the Final Destination

In a decisive conclusion, the group announced that Abba Abubakar has been expressly dismissed as a member.

Bakari further clarified that:

  • The organisation has no interest in joining Abba in the APC
  • Members have collectively resolved to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
  • The group had earlier left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and moved en masse to the ADC

“The Atiku Haske Organisation is not a party to Abba’s defection. Our loyalty remains with ADC,” the statement stressed.

Family Ties vs Political Reality

Interestingly, Atiku Abubakar himself had earlier played down the controversy, describing his son’s defection as a purely personal decision.

But with this expulsion, it is clear that political structures loyal to Atiku are drawing a hard line — family name or not.
