Fast-rising Afrobeats singer Fido has publicly addressed recent controversies surrounding his conduct, admitting that fame, ego, and inexperience influenced actions he now regrets.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Tuesday, the singer explained that his rapid rise to stardom left him unprepared for the scrutiny and responsibility that came with success, describing the period as one of personal confusion and poor judgment.
“I moved too fast without enough reflection,” Fido wrote, openly acknowledging mistakes. “There’s no easy way to write this, so I’ll just say it plainly. I messed up. I allowed ego, excitement, and inexperience to influence some of my decisions. That’s not who I want to be, and it’s not who I’m becoming.”
He offered an unreserved apology to his fans and the wider Afrobeats community, including industry veterans who may have felt disrespected.
“To my fans who stood by me, defended me, and prayed for me, I am sorry. To the legends and godfathers who paved the way, I apologise. Truly,” he added.
