Davido Uses FIFA World Cup Stage To Spotlight Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers

Nigerian music star Davido used one of the world’s biggest sporting stages to draw attention to the plight of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State, wearing a customised jacket bearing their names and the message, “Bring Them Home,” ahead of his performance at the FIFA World Cup.

The gesture was widely interpreted as a show of solidarity with the victims and their families as concerns continue to grow over the fate of those still being held captive.

Before taking to the stage, Davido was seen displaying the black jacket, which was covered with tags carrying the names of the abducted pupils and teachers from the recent school kidnapping incident in Oyo State.

By using his appearance at the global football event to highlight the crisis, the award-winning singer amplified calls for urgent action and the safe return of the victims.

Photos and videos of the moment quickly spread across social media, attracting praise from many Nigerians who commended the Afrobeats star for using his international platform to bring global attention to the country’s insecurity challenges.

The abduction of the Oyo schoolchildren and teachers has sparked nationwide outrage in recent weeks, with celebrities, activists and ordinary citizens demanding intensified rescue efforts from security agencies.

Many social media users described Davido’s action as a powerful reminder that beyond the entertainment and celebrations surrounding the FIFA World Cup, families back home are still waiting for their loved ones to return safely.

The singer has yet to make any further public statement on the issue, but his symbolic gesture has added his voice to the growing campaign calling on authorities to secure the release of the victims and end the wave of attacks targeting schools across Nigeria.

Videos and images from the performance continue to generate reactions online, with many Nigerians hailing the move as one of the most significant celebrity interventions in the ongoing conversation about insecurity in the country.
