A blogger, Ejike Ofoegbu Experience, who identifies himself as the publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, has publicly apologised after admitting that he fabricated several viral stories about Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his son, Ozonna Soludo.
The false reports surfaced after a video of Ozonna dancing to a song that criticised some Nigerian politicians, including his father, gained widespread attention on social media.
Among the fabricated claims published by the blogger was a report alleging that Governor Soludo had disowned his son years ago and no longer recognised him as a member of the family. Another article falsely claimed that Ozonna granted an interview in which he accused his father of domestic violence and declared that he had cut ties with him.
Ofoegbu also published several satirical headlines and presented them as genuine news, including fabricated quotes attributed to both the governor and his son.
In a video shared on his platform, the blogger admitted that none of the stories was true and acknowledged that neither Governor Soludo, Ozonna, nor any member of their family granted the interviews he claimed to have reported.
He said the stories were entirely fabricated in an attempt to make his platforms go viral, attract more readers, and generate revenue.
“I wish to offer my deepest and most sincere apology to Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, his family, and the general public.
“I publicly admit that the stories I published concerning Governor Soludo and his son were completely fake, false, fabricated, and untrue. They did not come from Governor Soludo, his son, his family, or any official representative. They were not based on any verified facts or credible source, and they should never have been presented as news,” he said.
The blogger also apologised to the people of Anambra State, readers of his publications, and everyone who shared the false reports, promising to avoid similar conduct in the future.
“I also apologise to the people of Anambra State, readers of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, and everyone who may have seen or shared these false publications. I am committed to correcting this mistake and ensuring that such an incident does not happen again,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether Ofoegbu has been arrested or is facing any legal action. However, the apology video showed him appearing visibly shaken while admitting responsibility for publishing the fabricated reports.
