Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has dismissed reports alleging that he disrupted a Wolverhampton Wanderers training session in an attempt to force a transfer away from the Premier League club.
The Nigerian forward responded after media reports claimed he refused to leave the training pitch and demanded permission to complete a move to Italian Serie A club Fiorentina.
A BBC Sport report published on Wednesday alleged that the incident occurred on Monday, claiming Arokodare sat on the training pitch at Wolves’ training ground to protest his situation. Another report by Mirror UK stated that additional security personnel were deployed the following day to prevent the striker from returning to the club’s training facilities.
Arokodare, however, rejected the reports, describing them as misleading and inaccurate.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, the 25-year-old said he was shocked by the claims circulating in the media.
He stressed that he has maintained professionalism throughout his career, adding that he has always approached training with dedication and remained committed to helping his team whenever selected.
The striker also emphasised that he remains under contract with Wolves and intends to honour his obligations by continuing to train professionally and contribute to the club for as long as he remains a player.
Arokodare was not included in Wolves’ squad for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United, a development that has fuelled further speculation over his future.
The Nigerian international has been linked with a move to Fiorentina in Italy, while Turkish side Trabzonspor has also been reported as a potential destination during the current transfer window.
Wolves signed Arokodare for a reported fee of around £24 million last summer. However, after scoring three Premier League goals in 33 appearances during his debut campaign, the striker is widely expected to leave Molineux before the start of the new season, with reports suggesting he is no longer part of the club’s long-term plans.
