Schoolchildren and teachers recently rescued after their abduction in Oyo State have publicly expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerian security operatives for their safe return.
In a video circulating widely on social media, the victims thanked the President for his personal commitment to their rescue and commended the joint efforts of various security agencies, which they said were key to their freedom.
Speaking on behalf of the group, one of the rescued individuals said: “Hello sir, our father, we are grateful. The President sir, we are grateful. We understand your commitment to our safety and we appreciate all you did for us. We could see it in your heart. Thank you very much.”
The speaker added: “And every security operative, they tried so much and that is why we are still alive now. We are very grateful to you. Thank you very much. Thank you sir. God bless you sir.”
The emotional message comes shortly after armed gunmen attacked a school in Oyo State, abducting several pupils, teachers, and staff. The incident triggered widespread concern and prompted President Tinubu to direct security forces to prioritise the safe rescue of all hostages.
Security personnel from multiple agencies launched coordinated, intelligence-led operations in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders. After days in captivity, the victims were successfully rescued and reunited with their families.
The rescue operation has been hailed as a significant success in the fight against kidnapping and a boost to public confidence in the government’s security initiatives. In their message, the freed schoolchildren and teachers stressed that their survival was due to the tireless work of the security teams. They offered prayers for President Tinubu and all officers involved.
