The Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, has threatened to resist residents who intend to vote against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.
In a video circulating on social media, Shekwolo said he would not allow anyone within the area council to work against the APC or oppose President Bola Tinubu’s bid for another term in office.
The council chairman cited development projects attributed to President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as reasons residents should support the ruling party.
Shekwolo also vowed to use his position as chairman to oppose efforts by individuals or groups seeking to campaign against the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“I have said in my area council that it’s either you are for the APC or you leave the area council. I am not arguing about it at all,” he said.
Explaining his position, the chairman said the projects being carried out by the President and the FCT Minister should influence residents to support the APC during the election.
“You know why? I cannot have the Minister and the President doing what they are doing, then on the day of the election, you will now say you want to match me. I will not agree,” he said.
Shekwolo concluded his remarks by telling residents that they would have to choose between supporting the ruling party and opposing it.
“It’s either you are with us or you are against us,” he said.
His comments come as political activities and mobilisation intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
