Adeleke Leads Oyebamiji by 66,244 Votes as Osun Results Near Final Stage

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is maintaining a strong lead over APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the ongoing collation of results from the Osun State governorship election.

A collation of results uploaded from the field on INEC Form EC8A shows that Accord has recorded 491,975 votes, representing 51.9 per cent, while the APC has polled 425,731 votes, representing 44.9 per cent.

The figures give Adeleke a lead of 66,244 votes over Oyebamiji, with results from 3,633 of the state’s 3,763 polling units across the 30 local government areas included in the latest tally.

ADC candidate Najeem Salaam is in third position with 16,513 votes, representing 1.7 per cent.

The other parties on the ballot have collectively recorded about 14,500 votes, while 948,768 valid votes have been counted in the latest update.

Adeleke has maintained his lead as results from major areas including Ife, Ede, Osogbo and Iwo were added to the tally. However, the result remains unofficial until the Independent National Electoral Commission completes the statutory collation and formally declares the winner.

About 130 polling units remain outstanding in the tally cited by DAILY POST. Some of the outstanding units reportedly had their elections cancelled.

Adeleke is seeking a second term as Osun governor after winning the 2022 governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party before later moving to the Accord Party.

A victory would give Accord its first governorship win in Osun State.

The 2026 election featured 15 political parties on the ballot, although two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro of APGA and Simon Adewale of APM, had announced their withdrawal from the contest.

The INEC State Collation and Returning Officer has yet to formally declare a winner. Under Nigeria’s electoral rules, the candidate declared elected must secure the highest number of votes and satisfy the required geographical spread.

The figures reported above are therefore collation figures and not the final official result. INEC’s formal declaration remains the determining outcome.
