BREAKING: Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election With 66,252-Vote Margin

Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won the 2026 Osun State governorship election, securing a second term in office.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, announced Adeleke as the winner on Sunday morning.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who secured 444,815 votes.

The Accord candidate therefore won by a margin of 66,252 votes.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, finished third with 17,180 votes.

The victory gives Adeleke another four-year mandate as governor of Osun State after he secured his first term in the 2022 governorship election.

A total of 15 political parties contested the election, although the race was largely dominated by Adeleke, Oyebamiji and Salaam.

With INEC’s declaration, Adeleke has now been formally returned as the winner of the Osun State governorship election and will continue as governor for a second term.
