Kira Taiwo, daughter of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked a viral claim that her sister welcomed a baby boy days after their father’s death.
The claim circulated widely on social media alongside photographs and a video of a newborn carrying the caption “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy”, with users suggesting that the baby had been born shortly after Ogogo’s death and bore a striking resemblance to the late actor.
Kira addressed the claim through her Instagram Story, explaining that the report was false and that the family had received several calls and messages from friends and relatives seeking clarification.
She said the family decided to respond publicly because of the number of enquiries generated by the viral post.
The photographs and video being circulated were also found to be old materials from February 2024, when Kira herself welcomed her first child while her father was still alive.
Ogogo had publicly celebrated becoming a grandfather at the time.
There has been no announcement from the family confirming the birth of another child following the actor’s death.
Kira appealed to members of the public to stop circulating unverified information about the family, particularly as they continue to mourn the death of the veteran actor.
“DISCLAIMER. Please disregard the information currently circulating that my sister has given birth. This is not true.”
She explained that the family had been receiving calls and messages from concerned friends and relatives about the claim.
“We have been receiving several calls and messages from friends and family asking about it, so we felt the need to clarify publicly.”
Kira also urged people to respect the family’s privacy during their period of mourning.
“At a time when our family is mourning the loss of our father, we kindly ask everyone to stop spreading or sharing unverified information about our family.”
She thanked members of the public for their prayers and understanding while asking them to respect the family’s privacy.
The clarification comes days after Ogogo’s death and burial, with tributes continuing to come in from colleagues, fans, friends and family members who have continued to celebrate the veteran actor’s contribution to the Nigerian film industry.
The viral claim that another child was born into the family after Ogogo’s death has therefore been dismissed by his daughter as false, with the circulated images traced to Kira’s childbirth in 2024.
