Party agents at Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State have demanded a fresh count of ballot papers after alleging that the number supplied at their polling location was fewer than the 594 they were expecting.
The development occurred on Saturday, August 15, 2026, as voting commenced in the Osun State governorship election.
A video circulating on X showed party agents insisting that the ballot papers be counted before voting could proceed.
One of the agents questioned the number presented at the polling location, saying the papers appeared to be far fewer than the 594 they were told had been supplied.
“If you count it again, I’m sure it won’t be up to 100, and they claimed they brought 594 for us and now it is not up to 594,” the agent said.
An INEC official at the location reportedly explained that the discrepancy resulted from an error during the counting process.
The explanation, however, did not satisfy the party agents, who demanded another count to establish the exact number of ballot papers available.
The agents reportedly insisted that voting would not commence unless the number of ballot papers matched the 594 they were expecting.
“Count again and if it doesn’t complete, we won’t vote,” they reportedly said.
The development temporarily raised concerns over the commencement of voting at the affected location, as party agents insisted on resolving the ballot paper discrepancy before the process could continue.
