The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi over an alleged statement directing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party during Saturday’s governorship election.
The police invitation followed the circulation of a video on social media in which Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, allegedly made the controversial remarks while addressing an APC campaign gathering in Ilesa on Tuesday.
Fadahunsi was reportedly speaking in Yoruba when the alleged statement was made.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Elections, Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, the senator was asked to appear before the police to clarify the circumstances surrounding the remarks attributed to him.
According to the invitation, Fadahunsi was directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11am on Wednesday, August 12.
The police said the invitation followed information alleging that the senator made statements considered “threatening, inciting and intimidating” during the campaign.
The command also noted that the alleged remarks had circulated widely across electronic and social media platforms, drawing attention just days before the governorship election.
The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun as political parties conclude their campaigns ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Fadahunsi has, however, denied making the statement attributed to him.
The senator maintained that his comments had been taken out of context and also disputed the authenticity of the viral footage.
According to him, the video circulating on social media was AI-generated.
His denial introduces a dispute over the authenticity and interpretation of the material that prompted the police invitation.
The police invitation is expected to provide Fadahunsi an opportunity to explain his version of events and respond formally to the allegations.
As of the information available, the alleged remarks remain claims under police scrutiny, while Fadahunsi continues to deny directing violence against Accord Party supporters.
