Activist and presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has responded to Afrobeats star Davido after the singer criticised him for speaking against his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Sowore had earlier criticised Adeleke during an interview with News Central TV, saying that based on his assessment, he did not believe the governor had much to offer the people of Osun State.
Davido later reacted to a clip from the interview, describing Sowore as “Arindin”, a Yoruba expression used as an insult.
In a response posted online, Sowore fired back at the singer and redirected the insult at Governor Adeleke.
“The real arindin is your uncle, @AAdeleke_01,” Sowore wrote.
He then questioned Adeleke’s educational history, alleging that the governor obtained an equivalent of a GED after previously serving as a Nigerian senator.
Sowore also criticised Adeleke over his political relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that the governor’s political choices were influenced by family interests.
He accused Davido, Adeleke and other political figures of belonging to what he described as a “rotten political establishment”.
“You are all part of the same rotten political establishment, oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, entitled, and feeding off the pain, suffering, and sorrow of Nigerians,” Sowore wrote.
He further argued that Nigerians would eventually reject the political establishment.
“But the tables will turn. The Nigerian people will not endure this forever,” he added.
The exchange comes as political tensions rise ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election, with Davido actively campaigning for his uncle and Sowore openly opposing Adeleke’s administration.
