Bandits have reportedly attacked Saketa village in Dinawa Ward, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting eight residents and rustling several livestock.
The incident was reported on Sunday night by security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details of the attack on X.
According to the analyst, the attackers, who were reportedly armed with dangerous weapons, invaded the community at about 1:00 a.m. and spent several hours carrying out the operation.
Residents reportedly attempted to resist the attackers, but the assailants allegedly overpowered them before fleeing with eight abducted residents and several animals.
“Last night, bandits attacked Saketa village in Dinawa ward, Wurno LGA of Sokoto State, abducting eight residents and rustling several livestock.
“The bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed the village around 1AM midnight and reportedly spent hours carrying out the operation.”
Details about the identities of those abducted, their current whereabouts and whether security agencies have launched an operation to rescue them were not immediately available.
The report has not yet been independently confirmed by the Sokoto State Police Command or another official security agency.
The incident comes amid continuing security challenges involving bandit attacks, kidnappings and livestock rustlingin parts of north-western Nigeria.
