Authorities in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State have arrested a prime suspect in connection with the death of Miss Queeneth Pepple, who was reportedly found dead around the Water Well area of Bonny.
The suspect, identified as Princewill Pepple, was arrested on Friday, September 11, following preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding Queeneth’s death along Water Well Road.
The development was announced by the Bonny Local Government Council in a statement signed by its Chief Press Secretary, Amb. Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo, on Saturday.
According to the council, the suspect was arrested by the Surveillance Security Team of Bonny LGA, working with officers of the Nigerian Police, Bonny Division.
The council said preliminary findings also indicated that the suspect may be linked to other alleged criminal activities, including reported rape cases within the Water Well community.
The claims have not been established in court, and investigations are continuing.
Bonny Local Government Chairman, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has directed the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the case and ensure that anyone found responsible faces prosecution.
The chairman also announced a ₦1 million reward for credible information leading to the arrest of Ernest Hart, identified by the council as another suspect in the matter, or any other person connected to the case.
The council appealed to residents with useful information to assist the security agencies while assuring the family of the deceased that efforts would be made to establish what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
“The safety and security of residents remain a priority of his administration,” the council said.
The chairman also commended the police and the local government surveillance team for their response and the arrest of the prime suspect.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as the investigation continues.
The development follows growing concerns about security around Water Well, after reports of other incidents in the area, including alleged kidnappings and the recent abduction of two young boys.
At this stage, Princewill Pepple has been identified as a suspect and has not been convicted of any offence. The allegations concerning Queeneth’s death and possible links to other crimes remain subject to investigation and due process.
