Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee, whose real name is Iweh Odinaka, has reportedly regained his freedom after spending weeks in custody in the United Kingdom over an ongoing criminal case.
The development was reported on Friday, September 11, with Nigerian content creator Peller among those speaking publicly about the dancer’s reported release. A separate report also attributed confirmation of the development to X influencer Pamilerin Adekoge.
Poco Lee had been remanded in the UK following criminal proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.
The court previously confirmed that he faces five sexual offences, comprising one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. A reporting restriction was also imposed to protect the identity of the complainant.
His case had been scheduled for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15, 2026, according to the court.
The latest reports of his release have therefore generated fresh attention because they come just days before the scheduled court hearing.
Peller had earlier revealed that he sought the intervention of Pastor Tobi Adegboyega over Poco Lee’s detention. According to Peller, he was told that the matter had already been transferred to the side of singer Burna Boy.
In a subsequent update reported on Friday, Peller claimed that the woman who allegedly brought the case against Poco Lee had stopped pursuing it and that this led to his release.
However, that claim has not been independently confirmed by the UK court or another official legal authority.
The reported release also does not automatically mean that the criminal charges have been dismissed or that Poco Lee has been cleared of the allegations. The status of the proceedings will need to be established through the court or his legal representatives.
Poco Lee’s management had previously urged the public to avoid treating allegations against him as established facts, stressing that he had not been convicted of any offence and was entitled to the presumption of innocence.
TheNaijaWide will update the story when there is an official confirmation regarding Poco Lee’s release and the status of the UK court proceedings.
