Friends, colleagues and associates are mourning the death of a fresh first-class graduate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) identified as Mayowa, popularly known as Mayorwhiz.
Mayowa had reportedly recently completed his university education with first-class honours and was said to have taken up work as a dispatch rider in Ogun State while trying to earn a living after graduation.
According to reports circulating online, the young graduate was riding a Qlink dispatch motorcycle when he was involved in a fatal road crash with a red Lexus ES 350 around the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in the Kuto area of Abeokuta on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
An accident report shared online stated that the collision occurred at about 3:45 p.m. along the inbound Kuto underpass.
Mayowa was reportedly found unresponsive at the scene and was presumed dead before his remains were subsequently conveyed to a general hospital in an FRSC vehicle.
The report also alleged that two male occupants of the Lexus fled the scene following the collision.
The circumstances surrounding the crash, including what caused the collision and the identities and whereabouts of the two occupants who allegedly left the scene, remain unclear.
News of Mayowa’s death has generated an outpouring of grief among people who knew him, with friends and associates mourning the young graduate shortly after he completed his university education.
His reported decision to work as a dispatch rider while pursuing his livelihood has also drawn attention, with tributes describing the loss as particularly painful given his recent graduation and academic achievement.
