The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) after a temporary disruption, allowing institutions to continue processing admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
JAMB announced the restoration in a statement on Monday, saying the system had been “fully restored and is now operational.”
The board urged tertiary institutions to accelerate their admission processes to recover time lost during the disruption and meet the approved admission deadlines.
“With CAPS back online, institutions are urged to accelerate their admission processes to recover lost time and meet the agreed admission deadlines,” JAMB said.
The board also advised candidates who receive admission offers to promptly accept them through the appropriate process.
For the 2026/2027 admission exercise, JAMB said public universities have until October 31, 2026, to complete their admission processes.
Private universities have a deadline of November 30, 2026, while other tertiary institutions have until December 31, 2026.
JAMB also asked candidates who had previously indicated that they were awaiting their examination results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination results.
The board said the step was necessary to ensure that candidates’ credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.
“Following the release of the 2026 NECO SSCE results, candidates who previously awaited their results are advised to upload and/or verify them promptly to ensure their credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.”
JAMB urged candidates and institutions to take advantage of the restoration of CAPS and proceed with the admission process within the approved timelines.
The board also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
The restoration of CAPS comes as universities and other tertiary institutions continue their 2026/2027 admission exercise, with candidates expected to regularly check their admission status and complete any required steps within the stipulated deadlines.
