The National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, has released the results of the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examinations, recording a significant improvement in candidates’ performance.
NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Mohammed, announced the results on Wednesday in Benin City, Edo State, during a press conference.
According to him, 79,503 candidates, representing 81.24 per cent of the 97,863 candidates graded, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
The figure represents a notable improvement compared with the 68.18 per cent recorded in the 2025 examination, when 61,104 candidates achieved five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
“The improvement recorded in the 2026 examination is encouraging and demonstrates the collective efforts of candidates, teachers, schools, parents and the wider education system,” Mohammed said.
The NABTEB boss further disclosed that 89,580 candidates, representing 91.53 per cent, obtained five credits and above, whether or not English Language and Mathematics were included.
This also represents an improvement from the 83.28 per cent recorded in 2025.
Mohammed said 24,128 candidates, representing 24.65 per cent of those graded, were certified as craftsmen following the examination.
A total of 100,069 candidates registered for the 2026 NABTEB examinations, while 97,867 candidates sat for the examinations, representing a 97.80 per cent attendance rate.
The examination body also reported a reduction in cases of examination malpractice.
According to Mohammed, 847 candidates were involved in examination malpractice, with a total of 1,554 incidents recorded. The figure represents 1.55 per cent of candidates who sat for the examination.
He said the figure was lower than that recorded in 2025, attributing the improvement to measures introduced by the board to strengthen examination monitoring and curb malpractice.
“I am pleased to report that the modalities put in place by the board to checkmate examination malpractice are yielding positive results,” he said.
Mohammed also disclosed that the 2026 NABTEB results were released 52 days after the final examination paper, describing the turnaround time as evidence of the board’s commitment to timely service delivery.
The registrar urged candidates to access their results only through NABTEB’s official result-checking platform.
He also warned candidates and the public against fraudsters who claim they can alter, upgrade or manipulate examination results.
“No individual has the authority to change a candidate’s legitimately awarded result,” Mohammed said.
The release of the results provides candidates who sat for the June/July NABTEB examinations with access to their performance as they proceed with further education, vocational training, employment and other opportunities requiring their examination credentials.
