A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after revealing that her sister’s former fiancé has married the woman who served as her chief bridesmaid and close friend.
The revelation came months after the sister’s proposed wedding and traditional marriage were reportedly cancelled in May 2026.
According to the woman, her sister’s relationship with the man ended after a disagreement over a trip to Benin to retrieve her phone. She claimed the man had asked her not to make the trip but regarded her decision to go as an act of disobedience.
Recalling the incident in a recent social media post, she wrote:
“Hope u remembered a story I shared sometime ago in may 2026 about my sister’s wedding/traditional marriage being cancelled cos she went to Benin to get her phone which the husband asked her to forget? According to him, she disobeyed him.”
She said the development has now taken an unexpected turn after learning that her sister’s former fiancé had married her chief bridesmaid, whom she described as her sister’s “very tight/close friend.”
“That man don finally marry my sister’s chief bride’s maid. (Her very tight/close friend).”
The woman suggested that she believed there may have been other factors behind the breakup, beyond the disagreement over the phone.
“I know very well that something was cooking, it wasn’t just disobeying him.”
However, she did not provide evidence to support the suggestion or claim that her sister’s former fiancé and the bridesmaid were romantically involved before the previous wedding was cancelled.
She also did not disclose the identities of the man, her sister or the woman he has now married.
Despite expressing disappointment over the situation, the woman said she wished the newly married couple well and left the matter to God.
“Some people get mind, well, I wish her all the best. One thing for sure is that no sin goes unpunished. Let God judge them.”
The account has generated reactions on social media, with users debating the circumstances surrounding the cancelled wedding and the former fiancé’s subsequent marriage to the bride’s close friend.
The claims remain based on the woman’s account on social media, and the other parties involved have not publicly given their side of the story.
