Victor Osimhen has suffered an injury scare after being forced off during Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Istanbul Basaksehir on Friday night.
The Super Eagles striker opened the scoring for the Turkish champions in the 16th minute, producing a fine finish to give Galatasaray an early lead.
However, Osimhen was unable to continue for long after finding the net. The 27-year-old was substituted about 15 minutes later after appearing to suffer a suspected muscle injury.
He was replaced by Barış Alper Yılmaz as Galatasaray continued the match without their leading striker.
The goal was Osimhen’s sixth of the season, while he has also provided three assists for the Turkish champions.
The injury comes at a potentially important time for Nigeria, with the Super Eagles preparing for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nigeria are scheduled to face Madagascar on September 23 before travelling to Guinea-Bissau four days later for their second qualifying fixture.
The extent of Osimhen’s injury is yet to be confirmed, with further assessment expected to determine how long he could be sidelined and whether he will be available for Nigeria’s upcoming qualifiers.
